Yesteryear Collection

This model is based on the standard Atkinson Steam Wagon which was first produced in 1916 and steadily developed up to 1924. Its engine was a twin cylinder double-acting type, developing 70 horsepower at 300 r.p.m., (maker's figures) giving this weapon a maximum speed of 12 m.p.h. when fully laden. The Cement Marketing Company owned a large fleet of Atkinsons in the early twenties and during this period three won 1st prize in Concourses held by "The Commercial Motor" magazine.

The (Y18-2) 1918 Atkinson Model D Steam Wagon in the Burghfield Mills Reading livery was released in 1988.

This livery was released in March 1988. Although most of the model was decorated by tampo printing, it was necessary to decorate the cab front with label. Problems had arisen with an earlier livery, because the curve of the cab was too severe to enable the tampo printing pads to make a uniform contact. The 'Burghfield' livery was not particulary wll received by collectors, due to its garish colour scheme and unrealistically coloured load of sacks.

Livery: (Tampo)
'BURGHFIELD MILLS READING' in white on both wagon sides.
'JAMES DEWE' and 'BURGHFIELD MILLS READING' in white within yellow border on front panel.
'No.18' in white within yellow border and yellow scrolls on both cab sides.

Variations/Rarities: There are no known variations.
